Submissions open 9 am AEST Thursday 31 August 2017 and close 5 pm AEST Tuesday 31 October 2017.
The manuscript should be a work of adult contemporary romance (excluding YA, paranormal/fantasy) between 70,000 and 120,000 words in length.
The winner will be notified in strict confidence in December 2017, at which time she/he must agree to keep this news confidential until the official announcement of the winning entry in January 2018. Publication will be in August 2018.
Entrants must normally be residents of Australia or New Zealand and aged 18 years and over.
All persons, other than immediate family members of Brio Books Pty Ltd staff, may enter the competition.
Submissions must be made electronically in Word format via Submittable.
The manuscript must be an original work, written entirely by the entrant and it must be written in English.
No more than 10 per cent of the manuscript can have been previously published in print form, or in electronic form, on a commercial basis.
The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into. If, in their opinion, no entry is worthy of the prize, no winner shall be chosen. No entrant may win the prize in successive years.
Pending acceptance of the publishing contract, the winner will receive an advance of AUD$5000.
